Phillip L. Saunders, M.D. 

Dr. Saunders received his Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. He attended the University of Alabama Medical School and graduated in 1991. Dr. Saunders first received training, both internship and residency, in General Surgery. He then entered his residency training in Ophthalmology which he concluded in 1997 as Chief Resident. Dr. Saunders then completed his training in 1999 at the W. K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan with a two year Fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Saunders is board certified and a Diplomate in both the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners as well as being a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been in private practice for the past 11 years.


Alexander V. Talalight, M.D. 

Dr. Talalight graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University in Virginia.  Following that, he engaged in laboratory research in Immunolgy, Biochemistry and Infectious Diseases at UAB.  Dr. Talalight earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Charles Selah award for excellence in surgery.  He then completed his residency in Ophthamology at UAB and a Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Retina Specialists of Alabama and Helen Keller Foundation in Birmingham, AL.  Dr. Talalilght is board certified in Ophthamology and his a member of the American Academy of Ophthamology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
